  A Little About Our County
 
Lewis County, New York is located halfway between the St. Lawrence River and the New York State Thruway, Lewis County is bordered on the west by the Tug Hill Plateau and on the east by the Adirondack Forest Preserve. It is a rich land of prosperous farms, quiet woodlands, clear streams and lakes, and clean air.   

Our abundant, clean water is some of the best in the world.  There are over 2,000 miles of rivers and streams and many lakes in Lewis County, most originating in the Adirondack Mountains. 

     
A land where honest, friendly people go about their business with a cheerful word for the passerby.
